Apparently, air powered gadgets have been around for some time but there was a slight problem. Because the air had to be compressed up to 300 times the atmospheric pressure, tanks would tend to explode. Now they have overcome this problem with new alloys and materials and the designer are rushing to put out their vehicles before anyone else does.

First we have the air powered moped. Although this doesn’t look very cool at this stage, for sure once the designers have had a go at it, it will start to look a bit more streamlined.

On the other end of the scale comes the CityCat which is a rather space age looking car. Obviously the designers have already got to this one. Said to come into production in the US this year (2010) this little beauty can hit 96 miles per hour and does up to one thousand miles on just one tank full of air. Since this is a non-electric and non petrol car, it would be hard to find anything that is greener for the environment for sure.

The European model is already undergoing road tests and the makers have suggested that the price will be in the range of around eighteen thousand dollars. This surely is a small price to pay for protecting the environment from all that smoke and pollution that we have all become so used to….cough.
