A Cable is blending, twisting, braiding of several wires or ropes into a single unit. The cables play a vital role in today’s world as they are main source of transferring energy from one point to another. The cables are mainly of two types: Electrical and mechanical. Electrical cables are used for carrying electric currents whereas the mechanical cables are used for lifting and hauling. Electrical cables are widely used for the transmission of electricity in our homes and they are flexible and thin. To avoid any problem caused by pick up and transmission it is advisable to keep cable length short. The cables are usually designed with certain techniques like shielding, braiding, twisting etc and their corresponding cable names are Shielded cables, coaxial cables, twisted pair cables.
The cables are generally insulated from outside and this insulation of the cable is done with added fire retardant materials. Plastic is mainly used to cover the electric cables. There are large verities of cables available in the market which includes domestic cables, fiber optical cables, submersible cables, telecommunication cables and the industrial cables. Fiber optical cables have become very popular today because they are much cheaper than the standard wire and they are less flammable and light weighted and has the ability to carry more information. Instead of running copper wire into the cable it is less expensive to run a fiber optical wire. The advantage of using a cable is that it enhances static and available connection.
