Energy generated through digestion of nutritious food is known as food energy. The human body needs energy for every single process carried out. From the most basic activities in human body to complex organ formation and cell building, energy is required in some form. Primarily, energy is generated in form of chemical energy from digested food. Different chemical components like carbohydrates, fats, lipids and acids are separated by different organs in human body. The energy is supplied to every organ and respective parts of body through blood circulation system. The blood contains energy components like iron, amino acid, carbohydrates when undergoes chemical changes at destination, energy is liberated that is used in crucial body processes. Generally, energy is expressed in calories or joules. The food that contains carbohydrates, fibrous components, fats, proteins, organic acids like amino acid, and certain alcohols provide energy to human body. Fats and ethanol provide the highest amount of energy. Other primary sources include proteins and carbohydrates. In the process of digestion, the energy is extracted from the products by complex chemical reactions. All over the world, packaged food covers have nutritional data mentioned on backside. The chart lists the approximate values of energy liberated from a fixed weight of sample. Carbohydrates, proteins, fats and components’ weights are also listed there. According to World Health Organization’s report, men require 2500 calories of energy per day while women require 2000 calories. In pregnancy condition, women require a lot more energy than their average need.
