Gaming cards

Gaming cards, also known as portable media storage devices. This is a big family of storage device which include the proprietary solid state ROM ‘Game Card’, Secure Digital ‘SD Card’, Secure Digital High Capacity ‘SDHC or SD 2.0′.

The Solid state ROM is a primary internal storage used in many portable electronic devices such as digital cameras. This device was introduced for the Nintendo DS. It’s rarely used today as external portable media storage. It memory capacity ranges from 8MB to 256MB. The Secure Digital ‘SD Card’ is a non volatile memory card format
designed and developed by Matsushita, SanDisk, and Toshiba for use in portable devices. It’s widely used today in digital cameras, handheld’s, Portable Media Players, Cell phones, GPS receivers, and Video game consoles. Its memory capacity ranges from 4MB to 4GB. The Secure Digital High Capacity ‘SDHC or SD 2.0′ is an extension of the
SD Card which increases the storage capacity up to 32GB. ‘SDHC cards’ shares the same physical and electrical form factor as older ‘SD 1.0′, allowing SDHC devices to support both newer SDHC Cards and older SD
Cards. Transfer speeds are not really an issue as far as game cards are concerned they offer decent read and write speeds ranging from 2MB/s to 6.6MB/s. With the latest Secure Digital Extended Capacity ‘SDXC’ all set to hit the market with its storage capacity estimated up to 2TB with read/write speed of 50MB/s. The game card market is all
set to take the consumer by storm.
