Rechargeable batteries are available in many sizes. These batteries distribute many advantages and designed for everyday use just like alkaline batteries. Rechargeable batteries are environmentally friendly than the other batteries, with the wide use of all sorts of electronic items the invention of the battery is the most useful innovations of the modern time. Throughout the years many technologies have been involved with notebooks, and laptop batteries are no different. Laptop batteries come in all shapes and sizes and also vary with chemical composition.
However there are three kinds of batteries:

1. Nickel Cadmium – The first rechargeable batteries that were used in laptops. Manufactures loved these because their cost was moderately low and they had a high output. However, now it’s hard to come by anyone using Nickel Cadmium batteries, due to them being heavier, and not as efficient as the new laptop batteries.
2. Nickel Metal Hydride – NiMH batteries are still in use with older model laptops. The rechargeable NiMH battery was a big step for notebook technology typically because they were consistent than the NiCd batteries and they had an even higher output. The NiMH battery was also cheaper to produce, and safer. The only drawback is that they can have an effect on the system memory.
3. Lithium Ion – LiON is now used in the latest laptops. Unlike NiMH battery, LiON laptop batteries have no effect on system memory. LiON batteries are lighter than NiCd and NiMH batteries. These advantages make the Lithium Ion battery the most approved and most luxurious among the various notebook power sources.
