MacBook RAM

The MacBook series of Apple notebooks includes Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air. Apple MacBook comes with a RAM ranging from 512MB to 2GB. The memory can be expanded up to 2GB or 4GB, depending on the model. Two slots for DDR2 memory and SDRAM chip are available for the expansion purpose. The external RAM of suitable configuration and enough memory is chosen and installed in the provided slot using guidelines from Apple Support.

As Apple MacBook range has multiple models, their system configuration varies including the RAM available. The RAM provided by Apple is certainly not enough to run extremely high detail games and some heavy applications. These games and applications cannot be executed using the virtual RAM feature in the OS. Physical memory is required to handle the heavy graphics load. Many third party companies like Samsung, Kingston have come up with solutions for this. Their own RAM modules that are compatible with your MacBook can be installed properly to achieve greater system performance and productivity. Most of the respected companies provide at least 2-3 years of warranty for their RAM module.

If you feel that your MacBook is getting sluggish while executing high-resource applications, it may be because of the deficiency of RAM. This can be found out using the Activity Monitor function in Mac OS X. Comparing the difference between your system resources and the actual requirements; you can decide which RAM to buy. The RAM having appropriate number of pins should be installed. 240-pin and 242-pin modules are famous in the market.
