The use of photo paper lies in the number of prints that we take of the photographs taken by a digital camera. The photo papers are available in various sizes and they can be purchased depending on the requirement. Aspect ratio is a term that needs to be understood to be better able to understand the photo papers. An aspect ratio is a part of any two dimensional rectangle such as the videos or the paintings. It can be defined as the relation between the horizontal and the vertical size of a rectangle. The formula to calculate the aspect ratio is to divide the height of a rectangle by its width.

Some of the common aspects ratio sizes used for photographs is 4X6, 5X7, and 8X11. The choice of a photo paper depends on the type of usage you have for the photograph. For a normal photo, where the quality is very important and it is only the occasional photograph, you can use an Inkjet printer and a normal paper. But if you take a number of printouts of the photographs and the quality is an important factor, you must opt for a photo paper and a photo printer. The rule of thumb in printing the photo graphs is that a glossy paper gives the best color photographs while a photo paper with matte effect gives the best black and white photographs.

To get best results, it is highly recommended that you get a perfect combination of a photo printer and photo paper.
